Edgar L. ‘Eddie’ Johns died at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa on Monday, May 19, 2014. He was 73 years of age. Eddie was born June 9, 1940 in Bovard, Pennsylvania the son of William Franklin and Clara Louise (Nowski) Johns.

Funeral services for Edgar L. Johns were held Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Assembly in Broken Arrow. Interment was in Cleveland, Oklahoma under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.

Eddie was a 1958 graduate of Bovard, Pennsylvania high school. He received 50 scholarship offers to play college football, finally choosing the University of Miami Hurricane in Florida.

He graduated from there with a Bachelor of Science degree and was named to the Honorable Mention All-American Football Team. He was drafted by the Pittsburg Steelers, but his playing days were cut short by injury.

On March 16, 1975, he invited Jesus Christ into his heart and his whole life changed. Eddie was a licensed minister, giving his testimony all over the country. He worked as a Gospel Music Promoter.

Eddie was a member of the International Fellowship of Christian Businessmen, the Christian Businessmen International and the Assembly in Broken Arrow.

He is survived by, wife, Louise Johns, of the home, Broken Arrow; daughters, Brenda and husband Mike Davenport; Debra and husband Jim Walker, Inola; sisters, Elsie Johns, Bovard, Pennsylvania; Mary Jane Masilli, Greensburg, Pennsylvania and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Terry Rogers, brothers, Bill and Ernie, sisters, Betty Bush and Fran Fleisher.
