Summer vacation is here, and children and adults in South

Tulsa, Bixby, Jenks and Glenpool are looking to stay cool

in area pools.

There are several options available to them.

The Tulsa County Park Department operates both the Bixby

Community Pool, located on the Bixby High School campus

at Riverview Street and Stadium Road, and the LaFortune

Pool at 5501 S. Yale Ave. in LaFortune Park.

Admission to both pools is $2 for adults, $1.50 for children

ages 7-12 and 75 cents for children 6 and under with a paid

swimming adult age 18 or older. Senior citizens are admitted

for $1.

The pools are open from 1-6:30 p.m. daily. They are closed

on Wednesdays.

Discount swim cards good for a 20 percent discount on general

admission are available. A variety of swim lessons and aquatic

programs are offered, including water aerobics and scuba

classes.

The Daily Family YMCA in Bixby opens its indoor pool to

its members and to the community year round. Non-members

may purchase a guest pass daily for $5 for adults 18 and

over, $3.50 for children ages 5-17 or $10 for a family.

The pool schedule changes daily. For hours of operation,

call the YMCA at 369-9622.

Jenks swimmers may splash around in the Jenks Municipal

Pool located in Central Park on the corner of Main and Elm

streets. The pool is open from noon to 6 p.m. daily except

Mondays. The cost is $2 for adults and $1 for children under

12.

Park Plaza South of Tulsa Inc., 7014 E. 69th St., sells

pool memberships. Membership is full except for residents

of Park Plaza South, who pay $240 per family. The pool will

remain open through Labor Day. The operating hours are 11

a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-9 p.m. on Sunday.

There is a separate baby pool.

Candlewood Club, 6600 S. Birmingham Ave., has two outdoor

pools. Families may pay $60 to join the club, and dues are

$240 per year.

Pool hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through

Saturday and 1-8 p.m. Sunday.

The Tulsa Jewish Community Center, 2021 E. 71st St., offers

pool memberships for $200 for June, July and August. The

facilities include a protected baby pool and a 25-meter

regular pool with diving. The center offers both private

and group swim lessons. The pools are open Memorial Day

through Labor Day. Operating hours are noon to 8 p.m. Monday

through Thursday, noon to 6 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Shadow Mountain Racquet Club, 7500 E. 61st St., offers summer

memberships for $350 for families and $250 for individuals.

The summer memberships are valid from Memorial Day to Labor

Day.

The memberships include access to all of the club's facilities

including the pool, the children's wading pool, the tennis

courts, the fitness center, the nursery and the steam room.

The pool is open from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through

Sunday.

Tulsa Southern Tennis Club, 3030 E. 91st St., offers family

swimming memberships for $250 for Memorial Day through Labor

Day.

For $100 a month, families may join and have access to the

entire club, which includes tennis, basketball, aerobics

and Nautilus equipment. Pool hours are noon to 8 p.m. seven

days a week.

Forest Creek Swimming Club at 8255 S. Oswego Ave. is accepting

members for the 1994 summer swimming season. The club includes

a swimming pool, a diving pool, a snack bar and men's and

women's dressing rooms.

Memberships cost $225 per family, $150 per couple or $100

for a single person. A sustaining membership of $50 pays

for eight family visits. Pool hours are 12:30-8 p.m. Tuesday

through Saturday and 1:30-8 p.m. on Sunday. The pool is

closed on Mondays.
