LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Jesus Mendez hit a home run to spark

a three-run sixth inning as the Arkansas Travelers defeated

the Tulsa Drillers, 3-0, Saturday in the opening game of

a Texas League doubleheader.

Mendez led off the sixth with the solo shot down the right

field line. Mike Ross doubled. Paul Ellis walked and John

Thomas reached first on a fielder's choice. Steve Fanning,

a pinch runner for Ross, was out at third on the fielder's

choice as Ellis moved to second.

Jose Hernandez walked to load the bases. Then, Tripp Cromer

singled to right field to score Ellis and Thomas, completing

the scoring.

Allen Watson got the victory to move to 5-5. Chris Geif

fell to 6-5 with the loss.
