Oklahoma will again be represented on NBC’s “The Voice.”
Tulsa’s Amanda Preslar and Muskogee-based Jubal Lee Young announced on their Facebook page that they had auditioned for the reality singing competition and advised fans to “Tune in to the premiere on Sept. 21 to see how we did!”
The show premieres 7-9 p.m. Sept. 21-22 on channel 2, cable 1002. The blind auditions are pre-taped, but the duo can’t legally announce if they made it onto the team of one of the judges (Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, Oklahoma country music star Blake Shelton or Pharrell Williams).
Preslar, owner of Preslar Music at 1430 S. Quaker Ave. and a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, has performed regularly in the Tulsa area. She is the singing partner and vocal arranger for Tennessee native Jubal Lee Young, who released his fifth outlaw folk-country music album in 2014. The duo has performed its brand of “Rockin’ Americana sort of Southern stuff” all over the area, including at the most recent Mayfest in downtown Tulsa.
They join numerous talented Tulsans who have auditioned for the hit show, including Adley Stump and duo Alaska & Madi.
Bixby’s Corey Kent White finished in the top eight on the TV show last spring and Muskogee’s The Swon Brothers were finalists and finished third in the competition. All were members of Team Blake on the show.
