Local manufacturer AAON Inc. has opened a second HVAC parts and supply store in Tulsa.
AAON Parts & Supply, 9528, E. 51st St., offers replacement parts for AAON equipment and for any HVAC manufacturer’s system. It features 6,500 square feet of retail space and 10,000 square feet of warehouse space.
“We are dedicated to serving our parts customers throughout the Tulsa area,” AAON CEO Norm Asbjornson said in a statement. “We understand the value of a service technician’s time and want to be able to provide the parts they need, where they need them.”
The original AAON Parts & Supply is located in the company’s manufacturing plant and headquarters at 2425 S. Yukon Ave. in west Tulsa.
AAON spent more than $1 million on opening the new store, company spokesman Eric Taylor said.
“One reason for this new store is to be able to provide parts to service technicians on the east side of town,” Taylor said in an email. “Our plant and the first AAON Parts & Supply store are on the west side of the river, which could take someone 20-30 min(utes) to travel to and from the east side of town.
“That travel time costs service technicians money and so they may choose to shop at a different HVAC parts store closer to a job site on the opposite side of town.”
A publicly traded company founded in 1988, AAON engineers and manufactures air conditioning and heating equipment consisting of standard, semi-custom and custom rooftop units, chillers, packaged outdoor mechanical rooms, air handling units, makeup air units, energy recovery units, condensing units, geothermal/water-source heat pumps and coils.
“…We are using this store as an example to show our independent AAON sales representatives across the U.S. and Canada that there is a growth opportunity in having multiple parts store locations in their market,” Taylor said. “Many of our equipment sales representative offices have opened one local parts store for selling AAON parts in their market, similar to our first store. We will use this new store to test what works and doesn’t work to increase parts sales and be able to share this knowledge our representatives.”
