Native American dance is alive and electrifying at the Oral Roberts University Mabee Center, 7777 South Lewis, Tulsa, Oklahoma, AUGUST 10, 11, 12, 2018.  The Intertribal Indian Club of Tulsa (I.I.C.O.T.) is hosting the 41st annual Pow Wow of Champions.

I.I.C.O.T. invites every one of all nationalities, young, or old, to attend the breathtaking celebration of Native American culture.  Experience the beauty and richness of Native American culture when the Intertribal Indian Club of Tulsa (IICOT) hosts the 41st Annual Pow Wow of Champions.  The drums and century old songs will reverberate in the dance arena Friday, August 10th when the dance begins at 6:00 pm with Gourd Dance, honoring veteran’s past and present.  8:00 pm marks the beginning of the pow wow sessions as the Eagle Staff and the United States flag carried by Native American Color Guard lead the Grand Entry.   The graceful steps of the dancers, the beat to which they move, is a photographers’ paradise, with the beautiful colors constantly flowing and circling in the dance arena to the rhythmic beat of drum and song.  Watching the Grand Entry is thrilling and mesmerizing and is difficult not to move with the rhythm and energy of the drum.  The pow wow represents one expression of our American Indian Heritage.  It is one of the most meaningful ways and a natural bridge in which Native American traditional values and culture can be presented to contemporary peoples, old and young, Indian and non-Indian alike. 

Take a minute or an hour to peruse and shop at the large Native American Indian art/craft mart displaying for sale wonderful items of beadwork, jewelry, pottery, paintings, books, beads, and other Native American items…Start your Christmas shopping for unique gifts for everyone on your holiday shopping list!

Enjoy the traditional foods, Fry bread, corn soup, Indian tacos will be available as well as many other tempting and tasty items.  Your taste buds and tummy will LOVE the yummy foods available for purchase.  

Attend IICOT Pow Wow of Champions August 10, 11, 12, 2018 and Step back into time – and join us as we gather and share the voices of our ancestors, their traditions, and their songs.  There is plenty of Free Parking.  Purchase a souvenir program book available that includes information on the different dance styles.

The doors will open at 5:00 pm on Friday, August 10th Grand Entry – 8:00 pm.   Saturday, August 11, and Sunday, August 12 doors open at 11:00 a.m.  Grand Entry @ 6:00 pm

SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL:  Tulsa, Union, Jenks, B.A., Owasso, Sand Springs students are FREE with PAID adult.  ***Must provide 2018 report card, or student ID***The pow wow of Champions is a family event and is an alcohol and drug free event.  There is Free Parking and easy access to the Pow Wow. Admission is $8 per person (5yrs and under free).  Purchase a Weekend Wrist Band and attend all Three days $15!   Seniors $7.00
