A new housing complex for seniors is coming soon to Owasso.
The City of Owasso announced it is moving forward with plans to build Centennial Park Apartments, located on 3.5 acres just south of the Villas at Preston Lakes off of N. 145th E. Ave., adjacent to Homestead of Owasso.
The single-building, three-story, multifamily community will feature 56 one- and two-bedroom residential units as well as a range of amenities for local seniors.
Assistant City Planner Morgan Pemberton said that while Owasso is home to several single-family homes and assisted-living communities, there is a vested interest among area residents for more multifamily senior developments.
“We definitely have a need for that type of housing in Owasso,” Pemberton said. “The one thing that we don’t have that there is a considerable amount of demand for is reduced-sized housing … that seniors tend to want.”
Centennial Park Apartments will feature elevators, a leasing office, fitness center, community room, arts center, library, business center, an outdoor seating and entertainment area, storm shelter, dog park, garage and storage units, and parking across the premises.
Pemberton said Centennial Park Apartments will serve as the first residential complex of its kind in Owasso and is looking forward to introducing it to the community.
“We’re excited to see a major senior housing development come to Owasso,” she said. “We hope to see some more housing developments of varying types that are directed toward seniors.”
Pemberton said the Owasso Public Works department recently completed its engineering plans for the project and is moving on to the first phase of construction sometime in the near future.
