Hayes Custom Homes out of Owasso sponsored NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne in the 2019 Chili Bowl Nationals.

Kahne entered the world-famous 33rd Annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals field of more than 360 drivers last week at the River Spirit Expo in Tulsa.

Upon entering the event, Kahne and car owner Willie Kahne, owner of Factory Kahne, revealed an all new car design and look featuring Hayes Custom Homes as the anchor sponsor.

This was the second consecutive Chili Bowl Nationals where Kahne teamed up with Brian Hayes, owner and founder of Hayes Custom Homes.

Hayes has also added another of his companies, Smokin’ Blue BBQ, to the car this year as an affiliate sponsor. Smokin Blue BBQ is a rub and seasoning sales company that has partnered with Kahne, NASCAR, Hendrick Motorsports, Kasey Kahne Racing and Leavine Family Racing in the past.

Hayes, born and raised in Owasso, has been in the real-estate business for over 12 years and also operates several local companies in the Tulsa area. His other passion, however, is racing – mainly thanks to his late father’s involvement on the track.

“Our family had always been in racing, and we just always had our hand in it from the love and the passion of what our dad had done,” Brian said in a previous story. “That passion kind of spilled over and went into what (I) ... do.”

Kahne competed against over 360 drivers from 33 different states and five countries (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and United States) for the honor of racing in the world’s largest indoor race.

Kahne’s first race was Tuesday night, Jan. 15, in the Race of Champions, where he wheeled the #67z to the front, but due to a late caution and lap traffic finished 10th. He returned to the track Friday and Saturday night to run for the coveted Golden Driller trophy.
