Also pitched three scoreless innings in a semifinal win over Coweta. “Never has a bad day on the mound,” catcher Nick Sizemore said. Went 9-1 as a junior, pitching to within one strike of a perfect game in the 5A semifinals and was 26-2 over three seasons. Coach of the year

Gerald Osborne, Pryor

Followed last year’s 5A runner-up finish by guiding the Tigers to their first state baseball title. Said he was thrilled for former players “who were close (to a title) but never quite got there” and “a lot of other people who took ownership in our program.” Has taken 10 Pryor teams to the state tournament in his 19 seasons. Also coached Stigler for seven seasons (1993-00) and is 646-295 as a head coach. A 1983 Fort Gibson High graduate, played baseball there and worked his way through Northeastern State University. Started coaching as a Coweta assistant, learning greatly from late, former CHS coach John Leafer. Entered the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2015.

How the team was picked

Nomination forms were emailed to athletic directors and coaches in the All-World area. Schools within 60 miles of downtown Tulsa and schools within 75 miles of downtown in a town with a population of 5,000 or more are considered to be in the All-World area. Freshmen through seniors were eligible. World sports writer Mike Brown made the final selections after reviewing the forms and consulting with coaches.
