Sand Springs city and park officials recently unveiled improvements to Pratt Civitan Park.
The park at 212 W. 43rd Street has a new, climate-controlled public bathroom, a picnic pavilion, re-vamped pavilion structure and more. The park is open from 6 a.m. to midnight.
Parks Director Jeff Edwards said the project took about six months and cost about $50,000 in funding approved in a recent bond election.
“The swing bay addition started about 10 years ago…(then) we started the mission of improving parks with splash pads (and more),” Edwards said. “With the increased attendance and usage, a public bathroom was a no brainer.”
He said city staff did the concept, design and construction work on the project themselves, which saved about one-third of the cost.
“We have a great group of people who really care about the mission,” Edwards said.
