The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office and the Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency are warning people affected by the recent floods to be aware of potential scammers.

Out-of-state contractors are reportedly in neighborhoods affected by the floods.

Officials are encouraging residents to research and ensure they’re hiring licensed and reputable contractors. Residents are asked to ask for identification and other necessary certifications if contractors approach them.

Residents are asked to contact the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office or their local law enforcement agency if a person, interaction or situation seems suspicious.

There are resources available at the Better Business Bureau and the Oklahoma insurance Commission Office.

For more information please contact Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Unit at 918-596-5650.
