The Skiatook Fire Department LINDSEY CHASTAIN/Skiatook Journal

The Skiatook Fire Department will be conducting fire hydrant testing within the city throughout June. The public’s patience is appreciated during this time and we apologize in advance for any inconveniences it may cause our citizens as testing can at times create a disturbance in the clarity of the public water supply.

Fire hydrants are tested annually to assure both homeowners and firefighters that water is available within a specific area. Annual fire hydrant testing is necessary to identify any potential problems in the system and to make sure the system is ready when it is needed most. Also, this testing allows information to be provided to insurance providers to assist in the calculation of insurance rates as applicable to fire protection.
