The Skiatook Journal office will be closing the location at 5265 W. Rogers and moving to Owasso.

The Journal, a newspaper that has been around since 1977, will still publish a weekly paper, providing the residents of Skiatook and Sperry with the same great coverage it has for over 50 years.

The Journal will be housed out of the Owasso Reporter office located at 202 E. 2nd Avenue in Owasso.

“When BH Media bought the Journal several years ago, they immediately upgraded our equipment, providing us with the tools we needed to be successful,” said Managing Editor Lindsey Chastain. “Local journalism is so important to the community. We keep people informed about local government, events, schools, churches and sports. We will continue to support the community and provide great local coverage. ”

BH Media Group, which also owns the Tulsa World, bought the Skiatook Journal and six other newspapers from Community Publishers Inc. in 2015. Two of those newspapers have since closed, and two have merged into a single publication. Along with the Skiatook Journal, BH Media also owns and prints the Owasso Reporter, Sand Springs Leader and Wagoner County American-Tribune.

The Tulsa World provides services for the Skiatook Journal - and the other weekly publications - including printing, circulation and advertising.

Karen Bennett will now handle the advertising for the Journal and Lindsey Chastain remain as the Journal’s editor, handling news content.
