Skiatook Lake Angler’s Bass Tournament SUBMITTED

The Skiatook Lake Angler’s began their annual bass fishing tournament in March. The tournament consists of six qualifying events plus a championship.

Sponsored by Bill’s Marine, the tournament is for two person teams fishing for their top five largest bass of the day. All tournaments are on Skiatook Lake. The tournament is 100 percent payback, meaning all money paid in gets paid back out to the winners. Membership fees to the Skiatook Lake Anglers are used to pay for equipment and staff for the tournaments.

The first qualifier was held on March 16 where Gary Conrad and Jim Brock took home first with 18.62 pounds of bass as well as the largest bass of the day weighing in at 7.55 pounds.

Terry and Thomas Canady won second in that qualifier with 11.94 pound of bass while Todd Perkins and Jeremy Bersche came in third with 11.26 pound of bass.

The second qualifier was held April 13 with Robert Bratton and Nicholas Baker taking home first place with 16.43 pounds of bass.

In the second qualifier Clint and Dax Sills caught the largest bass at 7.68 pounds and placed third with 14.83 pounds of bass. Dusty Skaggs and Mathew Miller came in second with 15.88 pounds.

The third qualifier scheduled for May 25 was cancelled due to flooding in the area. The next qualifier is scheduled for June 15.
