Video gamers and tabletop players will come together for the Name Your Game Expo, a new gaming convention scheduled Oct. 5-6 at Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center in Broken Arrow.

Name Your Game Expo (NYGExpo) will showcase a diverse lineup of video games and tabletop games that span a variety of genres, according to a news release.

The show, which is being organized by Oklahoma Gamers (OKgamers) and friends, will host local artists, authors, cosplayers, exhibitors, vendors and charitable organizations to round out the convention experience commonly found at cons in other states. But make no mistake about it. The backbone of the con will be gaming.

“I was born and raised in Broken Arrow and have been serving the gaming community for more than 10 years, but in my years of experience, gaming rarely got the spotlight at other conventions in the state,” Saif Khan, founder/CEO of OKgamers and co-chair of NYGExpo operations, said in the release.

“So we decided to pull together experienced Oklahoma organizers, coordinators and event managers to put on a new convention to do just that.”

NYGExpo will be staffed by volunteers from Oklahoma gaming communities. Members of the gaming team will be responsible for curating casual gaming, tournaments and unique programming for their area of expertise or subgenre.

The intent is to make NYGExpo the most diverse gaming convention in Oklahoma. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with others, compete for prizes and learn about the culture of gaming.

“We heard the cry of gamers in the state; they want to game locally, and they want gaming to be the main focus of the convention,” co-chair of gaming Landon Carroll said.

“This is a multifaceted opportunity for not only gamers, but for the state of Oklahoma. It’s an opportunity to bring video and tabletop gaming into the mainstream spotlight and an opportunity for Oklahoma businesses to dip their toes into one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. It’s a global culture that’s been tucked away for many years.”

With competitive and free-play gaming, NYGExpo wants to provide a family-friendly experience for gamers and nongamers.

Weekend admission for adults is $15 online or $20 at the door. Children ages 3-8 are $5. Admission is free for children 2 and younger. To purchase passes, visit nygexpo.com/attend.
