Lead vocalist Doug Gray remains the sole founding member of the band, which started in the early 1970s when Gray teamed up with brothers Tommy and Toy Caldwell, Paul T. Riddle, George McCorkle and Jerry Eubanks.

The group took its name from the ID tag on a key ring found in its rehearsal space. Its first, self-titled album, released in 1973, spawned the hits “Take the Highway” and “Can’t You See.”

With hit singles like “Heard It In A Love Song,” “Fire On The Mountain” and “This Ol’ Cowboy,” The Marshall Tucker Band earned seven gold and three platinum albums while it was on the Capricorn Records label. Platinum records include 1977’s “Carolina Dreams” and its 1978 “Greatest Hits” album.

The band has recorded 22 studio albums, three DVDs, three live albums and many compilations.

The band’s current line-up includes Gray, guitarists Chris Hicks and Rick Willis, multi-instrumentalist Marcus Henderson, bassist Tony Black and drummer B.B. Borden.
