Update (noon Tuesday): Kyle Husband died Monday of injuries sustained in the accidental shooting, according to Capt. Todd Enzbrenner, public information officer for the Sand Springs Police Department.

A Sand Springs man is on life support after he was shot in the head Sunday.

Sand Springs police officers were called about 2:30 a.m. to a residence in the 7400 block of West 34th Street, just north of the Tulsa Community College’s West Campus.

The man, Kyle Husband, 38, was in his living room with his wife, one of their friends and possibly one other person, according to Capt. Todd Enzbrenner, public information officer for the Sand Springs Police Department.

Enzbrenner said Husband was “playing with a handgun” when it discharged.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he was on life support late Sunday morning.

Everyone at the scene was interviewed and physical evidence was collected. Enzbrenner said the department is waiting on the medical examiner’s report to confirm if details provided by witnesses are accurate.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation, Enzbrenner said.
