Wayne Scherado wanted to shift gears with his car transmission business and made a big expansion announcement during the company’s ribbon cutting recently.

Scherado’s Lifetime Transmissions will be expanding to Owasso and eventually franchise his business model across the country. He revealed that plan during the party he threw for the Ambassadors after joining the Chamber of Commerce.

“I owe a lot of what I have to Broken Arrow,” Scherado said. “I like Broken Arrow. I wouldn’t move our business out of Broken Arrow.”

Scherado’s business at 2221 W. Albany is a far cry from when he started his transmission idea with his wife, Karen.

Scherado would leave flyers on cars in apartment complexes. Anyone that was interested would drive to the Scherado home where Wayne did the work.

“It just grew from there,” Scherado said.

In 2005, the small business moved to Broken Arrow. It was a savvy move as Scherado has had more customers here than when he was located in Tulsa.

Through all this, Scherado or the business have not remained still. He took a huge gamble and offered a lifetime warranty on transmissions…hence the new name.

“I was told I would go bankrupt in two years by offering a lifetime warranty,” Scherado said. “But, it all depends on your product. I want to do bigger and better. We will build them to last.”
