The deadline for internal candidates to apply for Tulsa police chief was midnight Friday.

Six people applied. The candidates are vying to succeed Chief Chuck Jordan, who is retiring Feb. 1.

Mayor G.T. Bynum has set no deadline for hiring a new chief. He has also said he is open to interviewing external candidates should he not find the person he is looking for within the Police Department.
