Tulsa County prosecutors charged a man Friday on allegations he shot and killed his wife Monday night outside an east Tulsa laundromat.
Prosecutors charged Roger Lee Martin, 35, with first-degree murder, according to court records. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 11, jail records state.
Prosecutors allege Martin shot Starrinda Burgess, also known as Starrinda Martin, and later dropped her off at a hospital. Burgess was later pronounced dead.
Police were dispatched about 8:30 p.m. Monday to the Omega Laundry, located near 31st Street and Mingo Road, according to a previous story. Police said witnesses saw a man, allegedly Martin, arguing with the woman, later identified as Burgess, 32, outside of the laundromat before grabbing a gun from a vehicle and shooting her multiple times.
Investigators were uncertain Monday how many times Burgess was shot. However, they found seven shell casings at the scene.
The couple’s two young children had been dropped off at a relative’s home, police said. Two children, a 3-year-old girl and an infant boy, were in the car at the time of the shooting, police said.
Police arrested Martin that night in the 3900 block of South 125th East Avenue. Martin is being held without bond in the Tulsa County jail.
Burgess’ death is the 32nd homicide of the year.
