Republican Jeff Boatman and Democrat Meloyde Blancett, both of Tulsa, were among seven House members appointed by Speaker Charles McCall to the oversight committee for the new Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency.

Rep. Kyle Hilbert, R-Depew, whose district includes westernmost Tulsa County, will be co-vice chair of the committee.

Other McCall appointees were House Appropriations and Budget Chairman Kevin Wallace, R-Wellston; Rep. Jon Echols, R-Oklahoma City; Rep. Mike Osburn, R-Edmond; and Rep. Cyndi Munson, D-Oklahoma City.

LOFT, as it is known, is a new unit within the Legislative Service Bureau that will have the job of tracking state agency spending for the House and Senate.

Candidates and elections: State Rep. Shane Stone, D-Oklahoma City, said he will not seek a fourth term in 2020. Stone represents a district on the near southwest side of the city.

Meetings and events: State Republican Chairman David McLain and Tulsa County Chairman Bob Jack will be featured speakers at the Republican Women’s Club of Tulsa County meeting, 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 7902 S. Lewis Ave.

Bottom lines: Morning Consult’s May tracking poll lists a +9 approval rating — 52% approve, 43% disapprove — in Oklahoma for President Donald Trump. The +9 was slightly lower than in April but consistent with recent months. Trump was most popular in Alabama (+27) and least popular in Vermont (-34). ... The Oklahoma Insurance Department filed an amicus brief in a case involving association health plans, which are promoted by some as a way for small businesses to band together to offer group health insurance.
