Ten Commandments State Capitol

The Ten Commandments monument was donated by Rep. Mike Ritze, R-Broken Arrow, and stands alone about 9 feet away from the north side of the Capitol, where there is no working entrance to the building.  JOHN CLANTON/Tulsa World

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma Supreme Court has dealt another blow to the state's attempt to keep a Ten Commandments monument outside the Oklahoma Capitol.

The court had ordered it removed, and on Monday denied a request from the state to reconsider that order.

The monument must be removed because it violates a section of the Oklahoma Constitution prohibiting state property from being used to further religions, the court said.
