Police in Vinita arrested a Chelsea man in connection to threats that shut down Vinita Public Schools sites on Monday morning.
Ethan Charles, 20, was arrested at his residence on two complaints of terroristic threats, according to Vinita Police Chief Bobby Floyd.
One threat was directed toward Will Rogers Elementary and another toward the courthouse, Floyd said. Both referenced major terrorism incidents including Columbine and the Oklahoma City bombing.
The schools were on lockdown for less than an hour as the source of the threats was identified and detained.
Warrants had been out for Charles’ arrest in Craig County, where Floyd said he’s known to law enforcement after resisting arrest on a drug complaint during a Vinita police traffic stop in 2015.
