Former President David Boren announced this week he will sever ties with the University of Oklahoma.

But his likeness is set to remain a part of OU’s campus, at least for the foreseeable future.

In the wake of a sexual misconduct investigation, Boren announced Wednesday he would give up his president emeritus title, stop teaching political science at the university and forfeit his four free tickets to home football games.

A statue on OU’s campus of Boren dressed in academic robes and holding a book was unveiled in April 2018, shortly before Boren stepped down after more than 23 years as OU’s president.
