WASHINGTON _ U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin, who pledged repeatedly during his 2012 campaign not to serve more than six years in the House, is now leaving open the possibility that he may run for a fourth term.

Mullin, a Republican who represents the sprawling 2nd District, covering much of eastern Oklahoma, released a statement to The Oklahoman on Wednesday morning.

“Our position on this has not changed," Mullin said in reference to his term limits pledge.

"However, Christie and I will continue to seek the Lord’s guidance and do what is best for our family and the 2nd District of Oklahoma. The only election I am focused on right now is in 2016.”
