A man died Wednesday night after he was found with a gunshot wound to the head as he sat in a chair on a front porch in north Tulsa.

Police identified the victim as Sidney Ray, 55.

The shooting occurred about 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 5300 block of North Johnstown Avenue. Ray was in grave condition when he was taken to a hospital, police said. They reported later Wednesday night that he had succumbed to his injuries.

Police were already responding to a call that a gunshot and arguing had been heard in the area when they received another call from a person who said he had been on a walk when he saw the man with a gunshot wound to his head on a front porch.

No suspect information has been forthcoming, and police ask that anyone with any information about the shooting contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 918-596-COPS (2677), online at p3tips.com/918 or through the Tulsa Tips app, which can be downloaded from the Google Play or iTunes stores.
