James "Jake" Lee Selsor peacefully passed away June 5, 2019, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 85. Jake was born June 16,1933, in Okmulgee, OK to Harvey and Mildred Selsor. He grew up with two younger siblings, Harold Ray and Billie. Jake spent the majority of his adult life in Oklahoma where he coached middle school football for over 40 years and worked as a firefighter for 28 years with the Tulsa Fire Department. Jake also served 3 years in the United States Navy on the USS Wisconsin during which he received the Korean Service Medal. Upon leaving the Navy in 1955, Jake returned to Tulsa, OK, where he later met and married the love of his life, Barbara, on April 7, 1990. Jake and Barbara were happily married for 28 years and enjoyed traveling, gardening, and time spent with family.

Jake will be remembered as a devoted coach who mentored and coached many young men, several of whom went on to play in college football and in the NFL. As a grandpa, Jake jumped at the opportunity to teach his grandkids how to throw a football, even if they weren't all football stars. He was a loving, genuine, and passionate grandfather whose captivating stories always had a witty sense of humor to them. He was never hesitant to tell his grandkids how proud he was of them or how much he loved them. He will be dearly missed.

Jake is survived by his sister, Billie Mizelle; children, Kevin Selsor, Angie Selsor, Joe Stein, Mark Stein, and Nancy Boorom; and numerous grandchildren.

Viewing will be 12Noon-8PM, Monday, June 10, 2019, at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. A service will be held on June 11, 2019 at 10:00 am at Floral Haven Cemetery, in Broken Arrow, OK in the Last Supper building. For more information, please call Moore's Southlawn (918) 663-2233.
