N. L. ("Bud") Swinson passed away on June 5, 2019. He was born March 28, 1931 to James Nelson and Sue (Bailey) Swinson in Dodge City, KS.

He started in the car business by opening his own car lot (Merry Motor Co.) in El Dorado, KS, later opening one in Wichita, KS. Accomplishing his goal of owning a new car dealership, he purchased his first of many dealerships in 1966, Bud Swinson Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in Winfield, KS. When the opportunity arose to buy a Chevrolet dealership in Tulsa, he acquired what became Swinson Chevrolet at 8th and Cincinnati, which was relocated to 31st and Memorial on Memorial Day of 1971 and operated until the dealership was sold in 1996.

Bud was a Director of the Fourth National Bank of Tulsa; a Board Member of St. Gregory's University in Shawnee, OK; a member of the Advisory Council of the Snite Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame; and a longtime member of the Downtown Rotary Club.

In retirement, Bud owned a ranch in Craig County, OK; developed real estate in the Phoenix area; and owned a fixed operations facility at the Glendale, AZ airport. He bought and sold countless airplanes and enjoyed spending time at the Tulsa Jones/Riverside Airport with his airplane enthusiast friends.

Bud is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Frances (Ziegler) Swinson and their five children, James (Sherri) Swinson, Sidney (Caroline) Swinson, Beth (Rick) Worsham, Johanna (Larry) Burchett, and Mary (Brad) Maupin; five grandchildren, Christopher Swinson, Mary Catherine Kivell (Justin), Jacob Worsham (Libby), Katie Lee Worsham, and Stacey Maupin; and one great-grandchild, Nathan Worsham.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 6 p.m. at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3612 E. 91st St. The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 12, at Holy Family Cathedral, 122 W. 8th St., at 10 a.m. with the burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 91st and Harvard.
