Feb. 22, 1936 - May 29, 2019
Wayne Francis Boan went to be with his Lord and Savior during the evening of May 29, 2019 after a sudden illness. Wayne began a varied and robust life after being born to Eva and Francis Boan in Pryor, OK on February 22, 1936. Wayne went to school in Pryor and went on to receive his Bachelor's of Science in Marketing from Oklahoma State University. After marriage in July 1958 to Charlene (Stites) Boan they had four children: Teri Kramer (Huntington Beach, CA), Christy Raleigh (Mechanicsville, VA), Melinda Richardson (Charlotte, NC) and Charles Boan (Minneapolis, MN). There are 12 grandchildren: John (36), Adam (32), Kevin (31), Meghan (31), Lauren (28), Kathryn (26), Cameron (23), Troy (22), Brett (21), Brooke (19), Ben (17) and Brock (13).
After college, Wayne joined the Air Force and served three years, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant, prior to being honorably discharged in 1961. His professional career included stints in property management, trucking, candy production (including a retail location), insurance sales, business brokering, and a long stint as Director of Lobbying for the National Association of Manufacturers.
His lifetime of memories includes playing with the Pryor Tiger football team (teammates would know him as "Bo"), being a part of the "Starlighters" orchestra band that was quite popular in '53-'54, the birth of his grandchildren, his relationships with Charlene, Pat and Betty, the crazy adventure with Uncle Max's Fudge, meeting with several leaders (including Presidents) of the United States, and being stationed in Japan while in the Air Force.
The angels must already be tired of waking up so early to prep breakfast (EVERY DAY), his cronies who have gone before are now enjoying the same corny jokes as if they were brand new, and the waitstaff is starting to understand that "tips" may not always be monetary in nature.
His 4 kids, 12 grandchildren, and multitude of friends and extended family already miss "Wayne-o" and his bright spirit. We hope he finds the type of laughter in Heaven that causes him to lose his breath and brings tears to his eyes. Godspeed and God Bless, Wayne Francis Boan.
After cremation, a memorial service will be held at Southern Hills Baptist Church (5590 S. Lewis, Tulsa, OK 74105) at 1pm on June 14, 2019. Interment to follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Pryor, OK at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the SHBC Foundation to support their missionary work worldwide. https://www.floralhaven.com/obits/wayne-boan/
