Some areas around Devon Tower to reopen, streetcar service to resume
Several streets surrounding the Devon Tower remain closed because more glass could fall while crews work to secure parts of the building damaged during an equipment malfunction that left two workers trapped in a basket for nearly 45 minutes Wednesday.
The garage isn't set to be built until April 2019, which is when OGE Energy Corp. will be ready to relocate a data center on the block.
The cafe will be 5,747 square feet and will open up to the park and to the boulevard. The modern design by Butzer Architects and Urbanism includes a lantern or beacon cropping up into the air that is intended to make the cafe a landmark day and night.
The nearly $5 million streetcar will be delivered to the recently completed streetcar maintenance facility at SW 7 Street and Hudson Avenue by Silk Road Transport.
"When the light rail is finished, it is going to be beyond fantastic, and I am really looking forward to that day," Kaiser's Grateful Bean Cafe owner Peter Schaffer said. "But in the meantime, it is very difficult."
Thunder fans will have the option of riding the streetcar to the Chesapeake Energy Arena's doorstep next season.
