Kevin Obanor scored 24 points and added a career-high 16 rebounds Wednesday night as Oral Roberts defeated Omaha 81-78 in overtime.
Deondre Burns, who scored eight of ORU’s 12 points in OT, made two free throws with 25 seconds left in the extra session for the 81-78 lead. JT Gibson missed a 3-point attempt with 8 seconds left and the Golden Eagles held on. ORU (13-12, 6-6 Summit League) never trailed in overtime.
Burns hit a jump shot to tie it at 69 with 28 seconds left in regulation. Each team turned it over on its final possession before overtime.
Burns scored 18 points and Emmanuel Nzekwesi 13 to help ORU end a two-game losing streak.
Matt Pile scored 16 with nine rebounds for Omaha (12-14, 5-6). KJ Robinson scored 14 points and distributed eight assists, Marlon Ruffin scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds, Gibson scored 12 and Wanjang Tut 11 with eight rebounds. Zach Thornhill grabbed nine rebounds and the Mavericks outrebounded ORU 45-36.
ORU hosts South Dakota at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Mabee Center.
