Former Tulsa softball coach John Bargfeldt is the new pitching coach at Oklahoma State.
“Coach Bargfeldt brings a tremendous amount of experience with him and he will not only help our student-athletes improve, but also help our coaching staff continue to improve,” OSU head coach Kenny Gajewski said in a news release. “I am excited to add somebody with John’s caliber of experience to our staff. He is regarded as one of the top pitching coaches in the country and will be an important piece in helping Oklahoma State continue to grow as one of the top teams in the country moving forward.”
Bargfeldt spent the past 14 seasons as head coach at TU. His teams won a total of 13 conference regular season and tournament championships, and made 11 NCAA Regional appearances. Bargfeldt owns the most wins and highest winning percentage in school history and was the program’s longest-tenured head coach.
The Golden Hurricane had a winning record in each of his 14 seasons. Bargfeldt compiled a career record of 535-270-1 (.664) and won at least 40 games six times.
Gajewski cited Bargfeldt's reputation and results for working with pitchers.
“John is one of the best pitching coaches in the country and we – along with the rest of the country - have experienced that firsthand while competing against his teams in recent years,” Gajewski said. “The resume he has built speaks for itself and I’m excited to have a coach of his caliber join our staff here in Stillwater.”
