In 11 of the next 13 seasons, Tulsa and Oklahoma State will meet on the football field.

For the Bank of Oklahoma Turnpike Classic, an eight-year, home-and-home series starts in 2024 at TU’s H.A. Chapman Stadium and alternates in odd years at OSU’s Boone Pickens Stadium.

“Originally, we had done 2-for-1s,” OSU athletic director Mike Holder said. “We decided that ultimately it was in our best interest, and good for the University of Tulsa and for football in this state, for us to do home-and-home.

“We think that having a presence in Tulsa every other year is good for our university. Plus, all of the money in this series stays in the state of Oklahoma.”

Under the current three-game contract, the teams play at TU on Sept. 14 and at OSU in 2020 and 2021.

The Cowboys lead the series 40-27-5, having won the past six meetings including a 59-24 win when the teams played most recently in 2017 in Stillwater.

“Continuing the Tulsa-OSU football series is obviously good for both schools and our fans,” TU athletic director Derrick Gragg said. “This series has tremendous history dating back to 1914. The proximity of the two schools and the interest this game creates in the state of Oklahoma makes perfect sense to continue playing.”
