Oklahoma landed an important piece to its 2020 recruiting class on Easter Sunday.

Cornerback Ryan Watts, a 6-3, 186-pounder from Little Elm, Texas, announced his pledge to play football for the Sooners.

Watts held offers from several Big 12 schools according to Rivals, including Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas and Texas Tech. Some of college football’s powerhouses like Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State also extended a scholarship opportunity to Watts.

Watts’ size fits what new defensive coordinator Alex Grinch wants from his secondary – size and length. Watts reportedly had a 4.59 40-yard dash and a 38-inch vertical during a recent camp in Dallas.

Watts is the seventh commit of the Sooners’ 2020 class. Six of the players are from Texas.
