Edgerrin Cooper, a 6-2, 204-pound inside linebacker from Covington, Louisiana, has given a verbal commitment to join Oklahoma’s 2020 recruiting class.

Cooper, who has three-star status according to Rivals, is the first linebacker and the 12th player overall to join the 2020 class.

He is the second pledge in as many days. On Thursday, quarterback Brock Vandagriff - the nation's top 2021 prospect - announced his intention to play for the Sooners. 

Cooper had scholarship offers schools like Mississippi State and Oklahoma State. He had 85 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble during his junior season at Covington.

The Sooners currently have four commitments on the defensive side of the ball – Cooper, defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey and defensive backs Ryan Watts and Dontae Manning.
