For its 2023 football game at Washington, the University of Tulsa will receive $1.6 million, the highest payout for a Hurricane game in program history.
The contract, released by Washington to the Tulsa World through an open-records request, was signed in December by both athletic directors. It also details a $1 million forfeiture fee if either school cancels the game.
For other upcoming road games against Power Five opponents, TU will receive $1.2 million from Michigan State in 2019, $1.1 million from Ohio State in 2021 and $1.45 from Ole Miss in 2022.
The Hurricane previously received $1.03 million from Ohio State in 2017, $1.1 million from Texas in 2018 and an undisclosed amount of more than $1 million from Arkansas in 2018.
TU also will play Oklahoma State in each of the next three seasons, starting at H.A. Chapman Stadium on Sept. 14 and continuing at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater in 2020 and 2021. The visiting team will net $200,000 for the first two games and the Hurricane will get $650,000 for the third.
The game against Washington is scheduled for Sept. 9, 2023, at the 70,138-seat Husky Stadium in Seattle. Last season, Washington won 10 games en route to the Pac-12 championship and a No. 13 national ranking.
