Gabby Gregory said she had no idea that she had scored her 2,000th career point until the game was over Friday.

She did know she was helping push Holland Hall one rung higher on the Class 3A postseason basketball ladder.

The 6-foot junior scored 39 points and the No. 9 Dutch raced past No. 8 Pocola 63-37 in the area consolation semifinals at Will Rogers High School.

Holland Hall (19-8) will play for a return trip to the state tournament at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The Dutch’s opponent will be the loser of a Friday winners bracket game between No. 2 Tahlequah Sequoyah and No. 20 Beggs.

Gregory hit seven 3-pointers, but she eclipsed the 2,000 mark on a two-pointer with 5:32 left in the fourth quarter.

“I had no idea until somebody told me after the game,” she said.

She now totals 2,006 over three years and 845 this season, averaging 31.3 for the season.
